PARIS--France's trade deficit widened in March compared with February as imports jumped, eclipsing the slight rise in exports, figures showed Wednesday.
The trade deficit of the euro zone's second largest economy rose to 4.94 billion euros ($6.87 billion) in March from EUR3.77 billion in February, figures from the customs office showed.
Exports rose slightly to EUR36.38 billion from EUR36.17 billion over the period. A rebound in energy consumption drove imports higher to EUR41.32 billion in March from EUR39.94 billion in February.
