Haven Bid Has Bond Bears Reeling Once Again

11:31 EDT - Bond bears can't catch a break. "Ukraine crisis is heating up again. Investors don't want to short the market leading into the weekend given the geopolitical risk," says Larry Milstein, head of government and agency trading at R.W. Pressprich. Milstein says lower yields forced investors and traders who were betting on higher bond yields (and there are many in this group) to reduce their short bets. Lower yields would "cause more pains" to short bets and the 10-year yield could fall to 2.5% if more shorts pull back, he says. Ten-year notes now 2/32 higher, yielding 2.599%.
