Treasury Volume Climbs on Wild Swings

12:20 EDT - Trading volume hit the highest level in nearly two months amid this morning's wild price swings. There was $483B worth of Treasury bonds changing hands as of noon ET, higher than $275B a day earlier and the average of $347B over the past 90 days, according to Kevin Giddis, head of fixed income at Raymond James, citing the ICAP Treasury volume index. The sharp upturn in prices on solid volume reflect how some in the large group of bond bears is getting frustrated with persistently low yields. Ten-year notes up 1/32, yielding 2.601%, from a session high of 2.699%. (min.zeng@wsj.com; @minzengwsj)
