Notwithstanding the modest decline in the April construction PMI from the previous month, the index level points to continuing robust growth as building firms chase seemingly insatiable demand for property. The data may well offer the Bank of England some comfort that increasing supply will finally start to temper further price rises, though a heating up construction sector is fuelling upward momentum in wages.
