USD/CHF Consolidating With Risks Skewed Lower

0104 GMT [Dow Jones] USD/CHF is likely to consolidate with risks skewed to the downside Friday, undermined by franc demand on a buoyant CHF/JPY cross amid weak yen sentiment, and on soft GBP/CHF and CAD/CHF crosses. But USD/CHF is supported for now as a rise in USD/JPY to fresh seven-year highs this morning lifted the greenback across the board. The daily chart is tilting negative as the slow stochastic measure is falling from overbought levels, while the MACD histogram bars are turning negative. Support is at 0.9619-0.9614 (Thursday's low-Monday's low); a breach would target 0.9600 (Nov. 6 low), then 0.9578 (Nov. 4 low). Resistance is at 0.9674-0.9680 (Thursday's high-Wednesday's high); a breach would tilt the near-term view positive, targeting 0.9700 (Tuesday's high), then 0.9741-0.9751 band (Nov. 7 high-July 9, 2013, swing high). Spot USD/CHF is at 0.9643. (jerry.tan@wsj.com)
