Fed's Yellen Headed Back to Capitol Hill in Mid-July

        By Ben Leubsdorf
Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen is headed back to Capitol Hill, where she could face some heat from House Republicans over an ongoing leak probe.
Ms. Yellen will appear before the House Financial Services Committee on July 15 to present the Fed's semi-annual Monetary Policy Report and "discuss the state of the economy," the committee said Wednesday in a statement.
She will appear before the Senate Banking Committee the next day, July 16, according to committee spokeswoman Torrie Miller.
The Fed chairwoman appears before the two congressional committees twice a year. Ms. Yellen's last round of testimony came in February.
In addition to the economy and the outlook for monetary policy, Ms. Yellen likely will face questions next month about a 2012 leak of confidential information that is the subject of a committee investigation as well as an open criminal probe.
Earlier this month, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R., Texas) and Rep. Sean Duffy (R., Wis.), head of the committee's oversight panel, said the Fed's "refusal to comply with the committee's subpoena" seeking information about the leak "constitutes the willful obstruction of this committee's lawful investigation."
Ms. Yellen told Messrs. Hensarling and Duffy that the Fed's inspector general and the Justice Department had advised the Fed that sharing some information "would risk jeopardizing" their own investigation.
