Former Boxing Champ Killed in Robbery

Former boxing champion killed in Atlanta - A former boxing champion was shot and killed in an apparent robbery attempt early Wednesday in southwest Atlanta.

According to police, 41-year-old O'Neil Bell and another man were robbed after getting off the same MARTA bus in the 1800 block of Harbin Road just after midnight.

When police arrived, they found one man shot it the hip and Bell lying in the street. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The surviving victim, a 28-year-old man, was transported to Grady Hospital. He told police he and Bell were robbed by two suspects as they exited the bus. The man was not with Bell, but the two had gotten off the bus at the same time when the crime occurred.

O'Neil 'SuperNova' Bell, is a former cruiserweight world boxing champion from Jamaica.

Police have released video of PT Cruiser they believe to have been involved in the incident.  Police said the vehicle was stolen out of East Point and used in a different robbery on Tuesday night. Investigators also believe the suspects committed a carjacking at a Walmart in Clayton County. Authorities said property from that carjacked vehicle was found at the scene of Bell's murder.

Police have also released a photo of a person seen exiting the vehicle. Investigators are asking for help in identifying that man.
