Aaron Rodgers Chris Paul, Pros Nail Trick Shots

Video: Aaron Rodgers and Chris Paul make trick shots, disagree on Dez Bryant non-catch - Aaron Rodgers and Chris Paul are both masters of delivering the ball to the exact spots where it needs to be, and they’re also both  pitchmen for State Farm. Those two facts come together nicely in a video, released Monday, in which they hit some crazy trick shots with the noted trick-shot artists of Dude Perfect at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The Packers quarterback and Clippers point guard did everything from the standard full-court shots to stunts involving bowling balls and golf carts, all in an effort to raise some money for charity (while providing some viral marketing for the insurance company, too). Rodgers was performing on behalf of the MACC (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer) Fund, while the Chris Paul Family Foundation benefited from its namesake’s efforts.

As usual with the Dude Perfect videos I’ve watched, there’s a little more of the thickly bearded guy than I would prefer — this after he promised me he would “try to stay out of the videos more” — but he does elicit some starkly different responses from Rodgers and Paul on the controversial Dez Bryant play in last season’s Cowboys-Packers playoff game.

Not surprisingly, Rodgers agrees with the officials that Bryant failed to make the catch, although his smile hinted at further opinions on the matter that he’d rather not share. The quarterback does note that, even if Bryant had been credited with the reception, “there was still some time on the clock” for Green Bay to stage a comeback if it had to.

Paul, on the other hand, flatly states, “It was a catch.” Why? “Because Dez said it was a catch.”

Most of the video, of course, centers around a number of trick shots the pair are asked to take, and they make a bunch of impressive throws. Rodgers pulls off the trickiest ones, including hitting a target to set in motion a process that leads to a balloon floating upwards, which he then punctures with another well-placed toss.
