"I just want to congratulate you on an unbelievable career," Jordan said in a pre-recorded video played on the Arena's big screens. "We are very proud of what you've accomplished over the years ... I am a big fan. I still love watching you play."

Bryant was first drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996, according to Jordan. The retired basketball legend is principal owner of the Hornets.
"That connects us with you," he said. "I've always been like a big brother, and you like a little brother."
As such, Jordan offered Bryant some brotherly advice and warned it may not be easy to figure out what to do after leaving his professional career.
"I'm pretty sure you're just like me," he said. "You're going to have to find other ways to utilize that competitive drive."
