Report: Georgia to hire Alabama's Smart as head coach - The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that "barring a last-minute snag in negotiations," Kirby Smart will become Georgia’s new head football coach. The AJC says an announcement could come as early as Sunday.
A Georgia letterwinner from 1995-1998, Smart is currently the defensive coordinator under Nick Saban at Alabama. He has been with the Crimson Tide for their last three national titles. Smart been on 'Bama's staff for nine seasons, serving as defensive coordinator since 2008. He is currently the highest paid college defensive coordinator in the country.

It is not yet known when Smart will start his new responsibilities with Georgia, as Alabama is currently No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings and a win over Florida away from returning to the playoffs.
