NBA Power Rankings

NBA Power Rankings: Week 7 recap - Every edition of ESPN’s weekly NBA Power Rankings comes with an SLL companion piece to further expound on how your trusty Committee of One arrived on a specific 1-to-30 order after a long Sunday night (and Monday morning) in the Power Rankings dungeon.

My guess it is zero percent surprising Golden State remains firmly at No. 1 despite suffering its first loss of the season, so let's just move on to the other 29 teams that have been playing in the Dubs' shadow for the first 25 percent of the season.

1-to-10: It's all pretty straightforward through the top five slots, with two surprise squads, No. 6 Boston and No. 7 Charlotte, taking advantage of the chaos and underachievement that continues to plague the once-mighty West. They've risen higher than either team probably thought possible, as currently constructed. The Bulls, Pacers and Heat all took unavoidable tumbles since last Monday, but you have to click it to believe it: Eight of our top 10 teams reside in the East. Insanity.

11-to-20: The Clippers' six-spot rise to No. 11 is largely circumstantial. They're by no means fixed in the wake of the unraveling that began with their 23-point blown lead to the Warriors at home on Nov. 19, but L.A.'s higher ceiling than the other teams in this range pushed us to promote the Clips to fill a void we had at the top of this tier. The other notable jumps here were made by the Rockets (No. 18 to No. 15) and, of course, Milwaukee! The Bucks rose from No. 25 to No. 20 purely on the bonus points that stemmed from being the first team to knock off Golden State.

21-to-30: The Wizards couldn't rise any higher than the top spot in the third tier after the latest health setback for Bradley Beal. The feel-good stories in New York and Minnesota aren't feeling so warm and fuzzy lately, either.

Pretty much everyone else down here is trending downward, with the Lakers and Sixers giving us weekly fits as we try to decide who belongs in the basement.
