In a statement, Jenner says, “Things have been moving so quickly that it will be nice to slow things down a bit and take the proper time to reflect on this journey. I couldn’t pick a better team, in Grand Central and Buzz, to make sure this story is told with a lot of honesty and care.”
And in an interview, Bissinger tells The New York Times, “I made it clear to her before I agreed that everything has to be on the table, nothing can be left out, and I’m going to be interviewing dozens of other people. It’s her book, but it’s going to be reported out to keep her honest. She’s been incredibly open, and I think it has the potential to be a really important book.”
Speculation about a memoir has run rampant since Jenner first came out as transgender in a “20/20” interview with Diane Swayer last April. She then made her official debut as a woman on the aforementioned Vanity Fair cover. And in July, her E! docu-series “I Am Cait” premiered.
Since then, Jenner has done the occasional interview and media appearance, including one just last week when she hit back at Ricky Gervais for knocking her during the Golden Globes. She is now gearing up for season two of “I Am Cait,” which will premiere in March. The news of Jenner’s memoir comes just a few weeks after Gossip Cop confirmed her planned speaking tour was canceled due to scheduling issues.
