Playboy Mansion For Sale? |
According to a report, Playboy Enterprises is looking to get $200 million for the iconic estate in Los Angeles, where Hugh Hefner has lived since 1971. It sits on six acres in the exclusively area of Holmby Hills. The company owns the mansion, and Hefner has been paying rent all these years for the portions of the property that he privately uses.
The sale will reportedly call for the establishment of a life estate that would allow Hefner to keep living at the residence indefinitely. TMZ, however, reports that the $200 million asking price is likely to be significantly lowered based on the estate’s value. While it is certainly legendary, the home, which was built in 1927, itself is less valuable than the acreage.
That said, the house’s infamous history does count for something, and would likely up the price from the $60 million paid for a similar lot nearby to somewhere between $80 million and $90 million. TMZ claims the listing will be made within the next month, with would-be buyers able to view all areas except for Hefner’s bedroom. He has not commented on the validity of the report.
