Mayim Bialik Dedicates Critics' Choice Award to Late Father: 'This Is for You' - Mayim Bialik's big win at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday meant more tothe Big Bang Theory star than many might have realized.
The 40-year-old actress, who was caught off-guard entirely by the win, took home the trophy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series -- and dedicated the award to her late father, Barry Bialik.

"The reason I look so surprised is I've never actually won anything!" said Bialik, who has earned two Critics' Choice Award nominations in the past, as well as four Emmy nominations, five Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations and a People's Choice Award nomination. "I literally didn't prepare anything because I've never won anything -- I didn't think I'd be up here."

After thanking her Big Bang Theory co-stars and the show's award-winning writers, Bialik recognized her father, who passed away in April 2015.

"My dad died 9 1/2 months ago and he was my harshest critic, and he never lived to see me win anything," Bialik said. "So Abba [which can roughly be translated as "father" in Hebrew], this is for you. Thank you."

Bialik, who plays Amy Farrah Fowler on the CBS comedy, also spoke with ET before the ceremony, where she opened up about the impact she hopes The Big Bang Theory has on pop culture and television.

Bialik hopes the show "could look forward to" having the same long-lasting popularity as a sitcom like Friends.

"I think anytime a show has that kind of longevity and characters that people do care about that deeply, it's true," Bialik shared. "People are very invested in it."
