Paul McCartney shares heartfelt David Bowie tribute - Paul McCartney posted an online tribute to David Bowie after the iconic artist's death earlier today. McCartney shared a photo taken by his wife Linda in 1985 with a heartfelt message:

"Very sad news to wake up to on this raining morning. David was a great star and I treasure the moments we had together. His music played a very strong part in British musical history and I'm proud to think of the huge influence he has had on people all around the world.

"I send my deepest sympathies to his family and will always remember the great laughs we had through the years. His star will shine in the sky forever."

The two never performed together, but were linked by Bowie's close friendship with John Lennon, who appeared on Bowie's 1975 album Young Americans.

Other artists like the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Kanye West, Jack Antonoff, and Questlove remembered Bowie in messages after news of his death spread around the globe.
