Deer Jumps Through School Window, Welcome To School

Deer was locked in office after jumping through middle school window (PHOTOS) - School Board President George McDermott said quick-thinking faculty at North Arlington Middle School locked a deer in an office after it jumped through a school window on Friday.

"They basically shut the door and the animal was content," McDermott said. "Everybody ran out."

A photo texted to NJ Advance Media shows the deer standing in the standing in the small office. Another shows the deer leaping through the window.

Police and Bergen County Animal Control officers were called to the school Friday afternoon when the large doe, estimated to be about a year old, jumped through a first floor window and landed in the main office.

Animal control officers sedated the animal, covered it with a blanket and transported it outside. It was not immediately clear where the deer was taken.

Officials could not be reached for comment on Saturday.

The deer did not come in contact with children and no injuries were reported, said Oliver W. Stringham, North Arlington's superintendent of schools.
