Moments after Gaga performed the medley of Bowie's biggest hits, Jones — whose mom is Bowie's ex-wife Angie Bowie — blasted out a questionable tweet that quickly went viral. The director, 44, tweeted out the Oxford English Dictionary's definition of "gaga."
Though it remains unclear what Jones intended with that post, Gaga was lauded by countless others for her sweeping tribute to the late icon. Taylor Swift looked ecstatic from her seat as she marveled over the presentation, and the rest of the audience exploded into applause when it ended.
Gaga covered some of Bowie's greatest hits during her medley performance, including “Changes,” “Let’s Dance,” "Heroes" and “Rebel Rebel.”
Prior to the show, the eccentric pop superstar shared an emotional video on Instagram of herself crying behind the scenes. "The world loves you David," wrote Gaga, who recently got a tattoo of the legendary musician on her rib cage."overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused." Damn it! What IS that word!?— Duncan Jones (@ManMadeMoon) February 16, 2016
