'Rockford Files' Actor Joe Santos Dead at 84 - Joe Santos, best known for playing The Rockford Files‘ Lt. Dennis Becker, died Friday. He was 84.

According to TMZ, which first reported the death, Santos suffered a heart attack on Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles. He was placed on life support, then died Friday morning in a hospital in Santa Monica.

In 1979, Santos was nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of Rockford Files‘ Becker, a role he inhabited for six seasons and several subsequent TV movies. His TV work also included Hill Street Blues, Hardcastle and McCormack, Magnum, P.I. and The Sopranos.

He is survived by a daughter and two sons.
