Report: Giants to cut Cruz unless he takes pay cut - The New York Giants reportedly plan to release Victor Cruz unless he agrees to take a pay cut prior to the start of next season.

According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the team has informed Cruz that he will have to take less money to stick around.

Cruz carries a cap charge of $9.9 million for 2016, making him the second-highest paid player on the team behind Eli Manning. While he was considered one of the best wide receivers in the league two or three years ago, Cruz has battled some significant injuries since the end of the 2014 season. He tried to come back last season before having to undergo another surgery.
Ironically, Odell Beckham Jr. may have injured himself during a game trying to pay tribute to Cruz. You can see the video of that end zone celebration here.

Cruz might agree to take a pay cut, since he is certainly not going to get huge money on the free agent market if the Giants release him. He’s simply too big of an injury risk until he proves himself for another season.
