Jonah Hill to Make Directorial Debut With His Spec ‘Mid ’90s’ - Jonah Hill will step behind the camera to direct coming-of-age film “Mid ’90s” based on the script he penned.

Plot details are vague, but sources say the film follows a young boy coming up in Los Angeles in the mid-1990s learning life lessons with his skateboarding crew of friends. Hill will not be acting in the film, and a production start date is still being worked out.

The film will be produced by Scott Rudin and Eli Bush with their frequent collaborators A24.

The project marks another major step in Hill’s career; he’s gone from young comedian to talented dramatic actor, having received Oscar nominations for his performances in “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Moneyball.”

While he hasn’t directed before, this isn’t his first time penning a script, having worked on “21 Jump Street”, his animated series “Allen Gregory” and screenplays such as “The Adventurer’s Handbook.”

He can be seen next in “War Dogs” alongside Miles Teller and was most recently seen in “Hail, Caesar!” It was also recently announced Sony would be moving forward with “23 Jump Street Men in Black,” with James Bobin directing and Hill and Channing Tatum returning to star.
