Indonesia's Budget Gap Seen Widening on Energy Subsidies

0541 GMT [Dow Jones] While Indonesia's inflation and trade balance numbers continue to improve, the view on the government's budget balance is deteriorating thanks to hefty energy subsidies. "We think without any effort to tackle to fuel subsidy issue this year, the fiscal deficit would widen to 2.7% of [gross domestic product], close to the 3% legal limit and the widest gap in 10 years," says Credit Suisse. For this reason, the bank doesn't rule out the possibility the government may have to take unpopular measures to curb subsidy costs. (i-made.sentana@wsj.com)
