BI: Financing Infrastructure Development Overcome Major Problems

For the countries of Asia, including Indonesia, infrastructure development is one key to increasing sustainable economic growth. Therefore, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia today confirmed its commitment to build infrastructure and connectivity between regions.

However, the government is also aware that the main problem in the financing of development, particularly in the midst of the current economic turmoil. Therefore, the government will and have taken a number of efforts, including through the reduction of fuel subsidies (BBM) to provide sufficient fiscal space, to work together in the scheme of Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

In an international conference held by Bank Indonesia (BI) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) entitled "The Future of Asia's Finance" on Wednesday (2/9), BI Governor Agus Martowardojo asserts that one of the challenges of the economy is the difficulty of getting financing to address the infrastructure financing gap (infrastructure gap).

In addition, the role of the deepening of the financial markets (financial deepening) and financial inclusion are also important in maintaining the stability of the financial system and promote wider economic growth and inclusive.
