Messages supporting ISIS painted on rock at Youngstown State - A sign supporting ISIS was scrawled on a college campus in Ohio.

Students and faculty at Youngstown State University were shocked Monday to find a large rock had been painted overnight with messages supporting the terror group.

Images posted online revealed that phrases such as "YSU supports ISIS," "France deserves destruction," "Jihad over God" and "We are coming" were included in the hateful act of vandalism.

Officials at the university addressed the disturbing incident on social media.

"YSU Police are investigating messages found on the rock on campus. No threats have been validated; no credible threat to campus at this time," tweeted the school account at 11 a.m.

A Facebook post also mentioned that the FBI was alerted "as a precautionary measure."

The rock, located near the school's Kilcawley Center, is a campus landmark that generations of students have painted to promote clubs and events, according to WFMJ-TV.

Shortly after the discovery of its new appearance, the rock was painted white by school employees, the NBC affiliate reported.

In the meantime, Youngstown State is reviewing security footage following the ISIS-themed defacement, according to The Vindicator.

"I can tell you we won't be lenient," Shannon Tirone, the associate vice president for university relations, told the newspaper.

Prior to Monday, the rock carried a message of support for the terror victims in Paris.
