PINE64 LAUNCHES AND EXCEEDS GOAL IN LESS THAN ONE DAY (VIDEO) - In just one day, PINE64, a quad core 64 bit 1.2GH expandable system launched and not only met its financial goal, but exceeded it. Available for just $15, the goal was to raise $31,416 in 45 days, but the excitement of this open source Quad Core mini PC has far exceeded the fiscal goals.
The PINE64 includes an ARM Cortex-A53 processor, 4k video output via HDMI, built-in real-time clock, 512MB of RAM, on-board battery charging circuitry, 2 USB ports, Micro SD storage, and the ability to run Linux or Android. The mini PC is also available in an upgraded model containing 1GB of RAM and a Gigabit Ethernet connection. The base model is able to not only compete but outperform other 32 bit open source boards by 20-30%. In fact, the 1.1 Gpixel/s throughput offers slightly better graphics than was offered by the original X-Box.
