Max Verstappen, F-1 On The Alps

Formula One goes where it's never been before... the Alps! Max Verstappen takes on snowy downhill course in Austria - As temperatures dropped well below freezing in Kitzhbuhel, Red Bull fitted their 2011 title-winning car with chain-covered tyres as they looked to make Formula One history.
Never before had the globetrotting sport seen one of its vehicles even attempt a challenge in the Alps, but that is exactly what Max Verstappen executed on Thursday morning.
The teenage Toro Rosso star performed a showrun down a specifically designed downhill course in his sister team's home country of Austria in front of the enthralled, but rather chilly, crowd of around 3,500.

He was well known for his courageous manouveres during an outstanding debut season last year, but this was something else. The event even had to be delayed by a day due to heavy snowfall.
Manoeuvring his 800-horsepower monster from around 1600 metres altitude in the -13 degrees Celcius conditions, skiiers and snowboarders filmed the teenager take to the Streif course.
Red Bull meanwhile provided stunning images of the event as the custom Pirelli tyres shredded through the Hahnenkamm mountain side.

It was all to promote this season's Austrian Grand Prix in the rather more tropical Spielberg and Red Bull, who are based in Milton Keynes, were also running a 'snow livery' on the car for the event.
Verstappen, who even showboated by going backwards down the piste, said: 'It was really cool and was so much fun. Keeping the car on the track was a real challenge.'
On being asked how a Dutchman can drive so well on snow in the mountains of Austria, Max Verstappen smiled and said: 'We are definitely better at ice skating. Marcel Hirscher's mother is from Holland too, so I guess he got his skiing talent from her.'
Both Red Bull and Toro Rosso have yet to disclose information on their 2016 cars, with the new season getting underway in Melbourne on March 20.

Verstappen, 18, is sure to have more teams watching his development, and was named Personality of 2015 by the Netherlands Sports Press foundation earlier this week.
And speaking about his hopes for the future, Verstappen wants to emulate Lewis Hamilton in becoming a multi world champion.
'My ultimate dream is just to become world champion, and not only once,' he told Sky Sports.
'So that's my dream and it doesn't matter with which team it is.'
