“The kingdom is ready to participate in any ground operations that the coalition [against Islamic State] may agree to carry out in Syria,” said Brig. Gen. Ahmed Asseri’s, a military spokesman.
During a briefing Thursday, State Department spokesman John Kirby expressed general support for coalition members who want to increase their support in the fight against ISIS, however, he also noted “I would not want to comment specifically on this until we’ve had a chance to review it.”
Asseri called for a more comprehensive approach to fighting ISIS in Syria.
