Foster has had an up-and-down career with the Texans, though the downs primarily hinge on various injuries over the years. His best season was in 2010, when he put up 1,616 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground, but he isn't far removed from looking like one of the league's best backs, either. In 2014, Foster had a 4.8 yards per carry average and put up 1,246 yards and eight touchdowns.
Still, that year wasn't as good as it could have been because he missed three games due to an injury. This past season, Foster finished with just 63 carries for 163 yards, a paltry 2.6 yards per carry average, and one touchdown in four games played.
Foster will be 30 years old when the 2016 season gets underway. The Texans didn't want to pay him the $6.5 million he was set to make in base salary this season, and it's hard to imagine a team on the open market putting up that kind of cash for Foster.
