"Today I received information from the volcano observation post (PPGA) Sumberwuluh Semeru in the Village, District Candipuro that lava material looks sliding a distance of 500-750 meters from the summit of Mount Semeru at around 7:15 pm," said Executive Chairman of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Lumajang, Rochani.

According to him, human settlements far away from the top of Semeru, which is about 9 kilometers. "The status of Semeru still at Level II or Alert, so that people on the slopes should not move in a radius of 4 kilometers from the summit of Mount Semeru," he said.

During January, he continued, lava avalanches occurred twice with incandescent material sliding distance of 300 meters and 100 meters from the crater Jonggring Saloko, so far away from residential areas. "I'll let people stay calm and not easily provoked troubling issues, but residents should remain alert to the activity of Semeru," he explained.

BPBD Lumajang, he added, always in coordination with personnel associated with the PPGA Semeru incandescent lava, because officials there can clearly see the volcanic activity was the highest on the island of Java.
