U.S. Congress House threatened terror

WASHINGTON - A man was arrested at the Capitol Building, Washington, United States (U.S.), wanted on suspicion of terror. The building known as the office of the U.S. Congress.

The U.S. Federal Investigators (FBI) arrested Amine El Khalifi is believed to intend to carry out suicide attacks in the building. 29-year-old man, it has been monitored by U.S. security forces.

"He had us monitor closely over the past few weeks," said the FBI told the BBC on Saturday (02/18/2012).

FBI says, Khalifi was arrested after he met a man who she thought was a member of Al Qaeda. But it turns out he was an FBI agent who was posing.

Although intended to seek links with Al Qaeda, the man from Morocco has no relation at all with the network of terrorism.

By the undercover agent, Khalifi supplied an explosives vest. But the vest was not dangerous because it is exchanged by the agents. Khalifi also carried a gun that does not work.

"The explosives carried by the suspect, was tricked by agent and does not pose the threat of danger to the public," said the U.S. Attorney General.

Khalifi arrests occurred in a parking lot that were located several blocks from the Capitol building. The suspect was known to violate the provisions of visitor visa since 1999. During this time he was residing in Alexandria, Virginia.

The court's first indictment was sent to Khalifi Friday, February 17 yesterday. Next Wednesday he will undergo a trial to determine the suitability of himself, given the possibility of bail.
