0328 GMT [Dow Jones] Nickel outperforms other base metals in early Asian trading. Nickel prices have risen 33% this year after Indonesia imposed a ban on the export of unprocessed minerals and the crisis in Ukraine escalated. Both Indonesia and Russia are two important suppliers. There is "positive momentum" in nickel prices since China's stainless-steel output has risen 21% year over year, BMO Capital Markets says in a report quoting data from consultancy CRU. LME three-month nickel is at $18,507/ton--up $257--while copper is at $6,695/ton--down $24 from its previous close. (arpan.mukherjee@wsj.com)
