Nazi Bride Trial

The 'Nazi Bride' breaks her silence to say sorry: Woman at centre of German neo-fascist group which carried out spate of murders APOLOGISES to victims' families but insists she didn't have anything to do with killings - A female neo-Nazi suspect accused of murdering eight Turks, a Greek and a German police woman has apologised to the victims' families but denied any involvement in their murders.

Prosecutors claim that Beate Zschaepe, 40, was part of a neo-Nazi cell that carried out the murders between 2000 and 2007.

In addition to the murders, Zschaepe is also accused of being involved in two bombings in immigrant areas in Cologne and 15 bank robberies.

Speaking for the first time since her arrest in 2011, Zschaepe addressed her 250-day trial in Munich through her lawyer.

In a brief statement, Zschaepe said she only heard about the murders after the fact. She said: 'I was involved neither in the preparations, nor in the carrying out' of the murders.

She claimed instead that the murders were carried out by her two lovers Uwe Böhnhardt and Uwe Mundlos.
