University of North Carolina says threat over at Chapel Hill campus - The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill issued an "all clear" alert on Wednesday and said normal activities could resume after police investigated a report of an armed person on campus.

The unconfirmed report of an "armed and dangerous" person earlier in the day prompted the university to sound its emergency sirens, and students and staff were told to shelter in place.

"The all clear signal means the threat to the campus is over," the school said in a subsequent message to the campus.
