'SNL' Pays Homage to David Bowie With "Man Who Sold the World" Clip - Fred Armisen returned to Saturday Night Live to remember David Bowie.

Towards the end of the Adam Driver-hosted episode, the SNL alum appeared on the darkly lit stage to speak about the impact of the late musician, who died Jan. 10 after a battle with cancer.

"When I was in high school and living in Long Island, I stayed up to see David Bowie play on Saturday Night Live," he said. "And watching him was, for me, a life-changing experience. He had these back-up singers that were like choir singers from the future, and a toy poodle with a TV monitor in his mouth."

He continued, "David Bowie transformed whatever space he was in, whatever medium he was using, and that night for me, he transformed live television."

Armisen then introduced a clip that showed a portion of Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World" performance on SNL in 1979.
