On March 11, President Obama will join SXSW Interactive to sit down with Evan Smith, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of The Texas Tribune, to discuss civic engagement in the 21st Century and the growing need to fight climate change. Then on March 16 Michelle Obama will join SXSW Music to speak about her Let Girls Learn White House initiative, which is described as "a government-wide effort that will leverage the investments we have made and success we have achieved in global primary school, and expand them to help adolescent girls complete their education."

SXSW co-founder Roland Swenson said in a statement issued by the fest, "I can't imagine a better way to celebrate our event's 30th year than to welcome both the President and First Lady." No word yet on whether Mrs. Obama plans to stick around to catch a few shows before heading back to Washington.
