0054 GMT [Dow Jones] Australia's central bank is expected to keep its official cash rate steady at 2.5% at a policy meeting later today and continue to signal to markets rate hikes remain some way off. A survey of 16 economists by The Wall Street Journal showed all in agreement that rates will remain where they have been held since August. Most attention will be on comments by Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Glenn Stevens on inflation. First quarter inflation was benign, giving the RBA more time to assess an emerging, albeit slow, economic recovery. A decision on rates will be announced at 0430 GMT. (james.glynn@wsj.com)
