20:35 EDT -- Much of Fed Governor Stein's speech Tuesday evening is aimed at detailing the difficulty of communicating central bank policy in a way that doesn't make markets go nuts when the Fed switches gears. He draws a link between marriage and the tough policy debates that takes place on the FOMC board these days. He observes "think of why people often forgo prenuptial agreements when getting married--it is simply too painful to negotiate over every contingency ahead of time." So much for love.
