Taiwan Govt Bonds Consolidate Ahead of Friday's Auction

0303 GMT [Dow Jones] Taiwan government bonds are slightly lower on thin volume Thursday ahead of a new 10-year bond auction Friday. "The market will likely seek cues from Friday's 10-year bond auction and see if insurers and government funds remain active bidders," says a local trader. The bond market remains in a consolidation mode, shrugging off overnight gains in U.S. Treasurys, though rebounding local stocks (the Taiex is +0.3%) are somewhat weighing bond investor sentiment. The 10-year bond yield is at 1.5383% vs. 1.5305% late Wednesday; the trader tips a 1.5350%-1.5450% band for the session. The five-year bond yield is at 1.0345% vs. 1.0315% Wednesday, and a 1.0300%-1.0400% band is pegged. (fanny.liu@wsj.com)
